From Hanoi, we did a day trip to the province of Ninh Binh, an area in the Red River Delta flows. Hoa Lu is located in this province; it is the ancient capital of Vietnam during the 10th and 11th century. There are several important temples in that complex, like Đinh Tiên Hoàng named after the first Vietnamese emperor.

After lunch, we took a boat to visit Tam Cốc, the “Three Caves”, an area filled with rice fields and beautiful limestone karst.DSCF0742.jpgDSCF0751.jpgDSCF0754.jpgDSCF0758.jpg

After Ninh Binh, we went back to Hanoi for a couple more days to visit various museums and hang out in the city. After Hanoi, our next destination is Bai Tu Long Bay.
