The largest city in Québec, Montréal is named after the Mount Royal hill right in the center of it which emerges from the building in a surreal way. The city is located on one entire island plus a few little ones. It’s the second largest french speaking city in the world (I’ll let you guess the first one…). I loved the combination of modern buildings, older quarters, lots of murals and decadent food (Poutine, Schwartz Smoked Meat, rich breakfasts). The motto of Québec is ‘Je me souviens’ (I remember) which embodies Montréal pretty well: a good mix of new and old, traditions and creativity.

When in Montréal, you have to go to Schwartz Deli and try the Smoked Meat Sandwich (similar to Pastrami but not the same).

This huge building is an old disaffected mill. They are still looking to figure out what to do with it.
